Heavy Rains Break Up Dry Stretch, Shut Down Stockton Asparagus Festival's First Day

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Don't put away those umbrellas, it's not time for summer just yet.

From Roseville to Marysville, rain fell for hours, soaking parents as they picked up their children from school, and slowed down traffic.

In Stockton, strong storms stopped the first day of the Stockton Asparagus Festival. Organizers called off the evening because of worries about lightning.

And for good reason. TITAN HD showed plenty of lightning strikes coming dangerously close to Stockton this afternoon.

Asparagus lovers understood, but were admittedly a bit disappointed the rain cut their fun short.
