Suspicious device found in Granite Bay removed, shelter in place lifted

Placer County authorities investigating suspicious device in Granite Bay

GRANITE BAY – Authorities were in Granite Bay investigating what they said was a suspicious device.

Deputies said the device was found around 10 a.m. along Hidden Lakes Drive, forcing the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team to respond to the area. 

Around 1:30 p.m., deputies said the devices were safely removed with the help of a K9 and there is no remaining threat. 

Deputies said eight nearby homes were notified to shelter in place, but that has since been lifted. 

The entrance to Hidden Lakes Estates from Douglas Boulevard was closed for the investigation. Douglas Boulevard was also closed at Mooney Road.
