Golden 1 Hosts Shred Expo at Headquarters

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) --Golden 1 Credit Union is hosting a shred event on Saturday until 3 p.m.

Consumer fraud and identity theft are prevalent issues facing consumers. Approximately 17.6 million U.S. residents were victims of one or more incidents of identity theft in 2014. To promote fraud prevention and sustainability, Golden 1 Credit Union will host a shred event for the community to learn how to go green while safely disposing documents with personal and confidential information.

The daylong event will feature Iron Mountain shredding services, booths with information about fraud alerts and a "Kid Zone" for energizing family fun featuring appearances by the Sacramento Kings' mascot, Slamson, and dancers and the Sacramento River Cats' mascot Dinger. Local vendors including SPI Solar, the Center for Land-Based Learning and the Sacramento Kings will offer information and activities to highlight the latest green products and technologies.

Participants may attend the shred expo until 3 p.m. at Golden 1 Headquarters, 8945 Cal Center Drive, Sacramento, CA 95826
