Glider Lands In Center Median On I-80 Near Blue Canyon

BLUE CANYON (CBS13) – A glider that landed in some trees in the middle of Interstate 80 is slowing traffic in the Sierra.

Caltrans says a glider plane went down in the center median near Blue Canyon Friday afternoon.

Only one person was on board the plane, the pilot. California Highway Patrol says the pilot was alert and appears to be OK.

While no freeway lanes are closed, motorists are slowing down.

Caltrans warns drivers to look out for first responders in the area.

Crews will not move the plane in the FAA comes to investigate, CHP says.
