Girl Scouts Sell $65,000 Worth Of Cookies At Oscars

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) - Girl Scouts of the USA has confirmed that celebrities at the Oscars indeed did donate more than $65,000 in exchange for cookies at Sunday night's event.

The Daily Breeze reports that though Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles on Monday said host Chris Rock's claim about selling $65,243 in cookies was inflated, the Girl Scouts of the USA released a statement saying the amount was reached in full.

Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles spokeswoman Sara Williams said Tuesday that the discrepancy was a bit of confusion. Troop 5215, who appeared on the Oscars while selling the treats to celebrities, plans to use the money to buy school supplies for foster children, take painting and pottery classes and a trip to an amusement park.
