Girl Found Dead In Rocklin Home Was Daughter Of Worker At Placer County DA's Office

ROCKLIN (CBS13) - The DA's office is confirming that it was Supervising Deputy District Attorney Jeff Wood's daughter who was found killed in a home in Rocklin.

Due to their connection to the case, the Placer County District Attorney's Office says they will not be handling the case.

"Given our strong emotional connection to Mr. Wood and his family it is legally impossible for us to prosecute this case," the DA's office wrote in a release on Thursday.

Ashley Wood, 13, was found dead by her mother in a home along Monument Springs Drive in Rocklin on Tuesday. A 14-year-old suspect, identified as a sibling of Ashley, was soon taken into custody.

Police issued a statement Tuesday morning but left out many details including the motivation, what was used to kill Ashley, and whether the 14-year-old would be charged with her death.

The case has now been forwarded to the Attorney General.
