Girl, 17, Dead After Crash Along Highway 49 South Of Grass Valley

GRASS VALLEY (CBS13) – Authorities say a 17-year-old girl is dead after she lost control of her car and was hit by another car along Highway 49 Saturday evening.

According to California Highway Patrol, the girl was driving southbound in a Subaru wagon on Highway 49. For an unknown reason, the girl lost control of her car just south of Lime Kiln Road and spun across all lanes of traffic.

She was then broadsided by a late model Lincoln heading north on the freeway.

The teen – who has not been identified at this time – was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP says. She was the only occupant in her car.

CHP says the passengers in the Lincoln, an adult female and a girl believed to be her daughter, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. They have been taken to the hospital.

The roadway was dry at the time of the crash, according to CHP.
