Gas Leak Forces Evacuation Of Homes In Elk Grove Neighborhood Overnight

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - Several Elk Grove residents were awoken early Monday morning by firefighters after a vehicle crashed into a home and caused a natural gas leak.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. Monday morning at a home in the area of Blossom Ridge Drive and McLean Drive. A vehicle hit the corner of the home, just to the side of the garage.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash, but it resulted in a broken gas meter. Firefighters evacuated between 12-15 homes as a precaution as PG&E workers repaired the leak.

Roads through the area were also closed.

Residents were allowed back inside their homes around 3 a.m.
