Former St. Francis Coach Accused Of Inappropriate Relationship With Student

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a St. Francis Catholic High School student.

The alleged relationship dates back to 2013, according to the Sacramento Police Department. That is when detectives believe Michael Martis, who was a softball coach at the school, started exchanging inappropriate text messages with one of his players.

Even after the girl transferred to Oak Ridge High School, detectives say Martis continued to meet the girl to have sex.

Detectives believe the alleged relationship lasted until November 2014.

Martis has been under investigation since November 2015, detectives say. On Thursday, an arrest warrant was obtained and Martis later turned himself in to Sacramento County Jail.

Detectives are looking for any other possible victims and ask them to contact the police department at (916) 264-5471.

Martis is no longer a coach at St. Francis.
