Former Sacramento River Cats Manager Takes Job With Oakland Athletics' New Triple-A Affiliate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Oakland Athletics have named Steve Scarsone as the manager of their new Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds.

The Sounds announced their coaching staff Tuesday.

Scarsone, 48, has been with the Oakland organization the past six seasons, and he will be the Sounds' 26th manager in the minor league team's 38-year history. He has managed at Triple-A Sacramento the past two seasons with a 79-65 record, and he is 568-554 all-time.

Don Schulze will be the Sounds' pitching coach with Webster Garrison the hitting coach, Brad LaRosa as trainer and Terence Brannic the strength coach.

The Sounds play their home opener April 17 in their new stadium, First Tennessee Park.
