Former Fresno Police Officer Charged With Pimping Girlfriend

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- A former Fresno police officer has been charged with pimping out his girlfriend to an undercover detective.

The Fresno Bee reports that Fresno prosecutors filed a misdemeanor criminal complaint Wednesday against Robert Knight.

Prosecutors say Knight faces a count of supervising or aiding the act of prostitution.

Knight's girlfriend was charged with one misdemeanor count of prostitution.

The 43-year-old Knight resigned in July just days after learning he was under investigation following his girlfriend's arrest.

Prosecutors say Knight set up a meeting where Alicia Stapleton agreed to perform a sex act for money with a vice officer.

Stapleton is a part-time prostitute at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada.

The two are due in Fresno County Superior Court on Sept. 8 for arraignment.
