Folsom Neighbors Vow To Fight Developer's Housing Plan All The Way To The City Council

FOLSOM (CBS13) — There's a new battle in Folsom over a proposed development that calls for new homes and parking spaces, as hundreds of neighbors are fighting all the way to the next City Council vote.

It's a popular recreational spot in Folsom, but people who walk or bike on Willow Creek Trail worry life will soon change.

"It's just going to be an environmental disaster for the area here that thousands of people like me enjoy day in and day out," said Domenico Infandino, who lives across from the planned development.

A local developer wants to build 33 homes and parking spaces for 99 cars. Opponents say they would be OK with the original plan of 16 homes, but not double that.

Their main argument: Save the wildlife.

There's all kinds of wildlife that we get to see. There's quail. There's a bobcat I've seen out here; that's pretty cool," said Jill Prahm

The developer owns the 5 acres.

Rick Prahm says he believes in property rights, but says the Parkway Village Project makes no sense.

"I believe in property rights, but I don't think this area is—how do you build apartments or homes here with a creek flowing through?" he said.

The developer did not return calls for this story.

The Folsom Planning Commission recently denied approval of the 33-home proposal and recommended the City Council reject the plan.
