Flames From Fireplace Spread To Home In Fair Oaks

FAIR OAKS (CBS13) – Metro Fire crews are cleaning up after flames from a home's fireplace spread into the living room early Friday morning.

According to firefighters, the home on Midiron Avenue had an older-style fireplace surrounded by too many items.

When the fireplace was lit, the items caught fire. The woman living in the home tried to put the flames out herself but they were too much.

The flames quickly spread through the living room.

The woman managed to get out safely, but crews estimate that at least half her home is completely destroyed.
