First Steel Beams Installed At Downtown Arena Site

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Construction crews installed the first vertical steel beam at the new downtown arena site Wednesday morning.

Fittingly, the first beam is colored in Kings purple.

The beam crews installed is actually for the Kings practice facility, which will be right next to the arena. Schuff Steel, a company out of Stockton, supplied, fabricated and installed the steel Wednesday. Rocklin company Pacific Erectors will be helping with Schuff in the next few weeks with more steel work.

Each steel column for the new arena and practice facility will be 40 feet tall.

About 9,000 tons of steel will be used for construction of the new arena and practice facility.
