Firefighter Hurt Battling Suspicious Fire At Elverta Home

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Arson investigators are at the scene of a home that caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Sacramento Metro Fire crews got to the scene just after 4 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the home along the 2300 block of Missouri Way. Firefighters immediately began their attack and started laying lines inside.

However, crews soon noticed that an air conditioning unit on the roof started becoming unstable and was about to fall in. All crews were ordered out of the house.

Metro Fire says one firefighter was injured during the incident. That firefighter has been transported to the hospital to be evaluated. He was later released.

Firefighters were able to save a lot of the house and prevent the flames from spreading to other homes.

Investigators say the fire is suspicious as the home is supposed to be vacant. The cause of the fire was later determined to be electrical in nature, Metro Fire says.
