Firefighter Burned While Battling Fire In Wilton

WILTON (CBS13) – A Sacramento Metro firefighter was burned while battling a blaze in Wilton Friday evening.

The incident happened at a home along the 11100 block of Nygaard Lane. Crews were battling a two-alarm fire at the home when a "flashover" – when flames break out all at once within a space that has been significantly heated – happened.

Metro Fire says the crew dove for the stairs, rolled to the bottom and got out of the home, but not before one firefighter suffered burns to his hands and neck.

The firefighter was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

No one else was injured in the fire.
