Fire, Reported Explosions Prompt Evacuation Of Rural Colfax Neighborhood
COLFAX (CBS13) -- A rural Colfax neighborhood was evacuated after a fire and possible explosion early Friday afternoon.
Cal Fire says that units were called out to the 1300 block of Robbers Ravine Road after neighbors heard explosions. At the scene, they found a motor home on fire.
Crews believe gas tanks servicing the motor home exploded.
California Highway Patrol and Placer County Sheriff's ordered evacuations of the area up to 1/4 of a mile away from the fire scene. More containers with unknown chemicals were also near the fire, Cal Fire says.
