Fire Destroys Mobile Home In North Highlands

NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) -- Firefighters are crediting working smoke alarms with helping save a family inside a mobile home that caught fire early Thursday morning.

Metro Fire says their crews first showed up at the Lamplighter Sacramento Mobile Park around 4:45 a.m. and found a home fully involved.

With some wind playing a factor, firefighters moved quickly to douse the flames. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to any other homes.

The fire appears to have started in the front of the mobile home, with food being left on the stove being looked at as a possibility.

Two people were asleep inside of the home at the time. They were able to get out safely thanks to working smoke alarms, firefighters say.

The carport next to the home also burned.
