Fire Danger Prompts Fire Restrictions For Parts Of Stanislaus National Forest
SONORA (CBS13) - High fire danger has prompted the National Forest Service to enact temporary fire restrictions in moderate and high-hazard areas of the Stanislaus National Forest to prevent wildfires.
The restrictions prohibit campfires, briquette barbecues, and smoking outside developed campgrounds in the affected areas. Welding and blasting also are prohibited, except by special permit, according to National Forest Service statement.
The order goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday morning and applies to designated moderate and high-hazard areas on the Groveland, Mi-Wok, Summit, and Calaveras Ranger Districts of the Stanislaus National Forest, according to a statement issued Monday.
Copies of the Forest Order and maps displaying the fire hazard zones are available for viewing at Forest Offices in Sonora, Mi-Wuk Village, Pinecrest, Groveland, and Hathaway Pines.
The areas where fires are prohibited will be actively patrolled by Stanislaus Forest Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Prevention Specialists.
