Crews Battle Large Fire At A Recycling Plant In Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS13) — Stockton firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a recycling plant Monday afternoon.

According to Port of Stockton director, Richard Aschieris, the paper recycling plant Cencal caught fire. Officials at Cencal said the facility processes cardboard, plastics, and office paper. There are 10-15 employees at the facility, and all have been evacuated. So far, no injuries have been reported.

When firefighters got to the fire around 4 p.m., they said the center was well-involved as the paper products and other recycling materials burned.

Firefighters said this was a wind-driven fire which created challenges for crews from both Stockton and Lodi. Officials expect to be on the scene for several hours mopping up.

Arson investigators were called to the scene, according to officials.
