Fire Burns Near Train Tracks In West Sacramento

West Sacramento (CBS13) - Firefighters quickly doused a fire in West Sacramento that sent thick black smoke into the air during the morning commute.

The fire started at around 7 a.m. in a ditch on the south side of the tracks at east end of Rice Avenue, just off Harbor Boulevard.

It appears the fire started in a plastic pipe about 3-4 feet in diameter and spread to nearby vegetation, including the limbs of a large oak tree hanging over the fire.

Firefighters soon arrived at the scene and had no problem putting the fire out.

This is reportedly a well-known spot for transients.
