Father Invites Homeless To Banquet After Wedding Canceled

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Homeless people in Ventura County will get a treat this weekend when a father donates the banquet from his child's canceled wedding to those in need.

KABC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1l5Y0VK ) that 150 homeless residents are invited to partake in an elegant meal in the dining hall at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort in Oxnard on Saturday.

A spokesman for the Ventura County Rescue Mission, the advocacy group helping the father organize the charity dinner, says the father called on Friday saying he had 150 meals, the mission only needs to get hungry mouths to the hotel.

The father has asked to remain anonymous.

Mission client Robert Duncan, who is a Gulf War veteran, says he plans to put on his best attire for the dinner.
