Crews stop forward progress of Gann Fire near Valley Springs

VALLEY SPRINGS — Crews stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire that sparked near Valley Springs in Calaveras County on Sunday.

Cal Fire said in their final update of the night that the Gann Fire had burned approximately 90 acres and was 20% contained. It was burning in the area of Hogan Dam Road and Quartz Hill Drive, on the south side of New Hogan Lake.

Earlier in the afternoon, Cal Fire said multiple structures were threatened but there have been no confirmed reports of any damage.

Additionally, Cal Fire said additional aircraft and resources were requested to assist with the firefight. Crews were expected to remain on-site through the night to strengthen containment lines.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
