Family Questions Infant's Death In Sacramento Foster Home

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Child Protective Services is investigating after a 6-week-old girl died in a Sacramento foster home. Authorities say there are no obvious signs of foul play and the baby had no apparent health problems.

Sacramento Police Department Officer Matthew McPhail told The Sacramento Bee that Macey Wilson was found unresponsive on May 7.

CPS Coroner Kim Gin estimates that it will take up to two months to finish tests for the girl's autopsy. She would not discuss what is known about the baby's death so far, citing the possibility of a future criminal investigation.

Macey's family is asking why the agency temporarily revoked the custody of the girl's paternal grandmother, 56-year-old Tracey Rhodd. Rhodd cared for Macey for about a week before CPS placed Macey in foster care while investigating Rhodd's background.
