SAN ANDREAS  (CBS 13) - The family of Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz released a statement on his passing on Saturday morning.

The post was made on the Sheriff's personal Facebook page.

"Thank you everyone for your outpouring of love, kind words and sympathy. Our dad was one of a kind and a great man. He loved this county and its citizens. It was his greatest honor serving you as sheriff. We all loved him very much and our hearts are heavy. It warms our hearts to read everyone's kind words and stories of our dad. He was the kindest, funniest, hard working, and loving man we will ever know. He made friends with everyone he met. He loved you all. More details will be released this week on his Celebration of life next Friday. We hope you all will join us in celebrating this great mans life here on earth. Thank you from the Kuntz Family."
