Family Identifies Broadway Homicide Victims As Pastor, Grandsons

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Family members remembered a pastor and her two grandsons who were found brutally murdered over the weekend.

Marquise Brown, 23, and James Ferrell, 19, were found dead with their grandmother inside a home on Saturday night.

Family and friends at a Sunday vigil identified the grandmother as Gloryland Revival Center Pastor Christine Lucas.

Police say they found the three family members dead inside an apartment on Saturday. Investigators don't know how long the victims had been in the apartment, and have not released an exact cause of death, but said they suffered "traumatic injuries."

Christopher Garland says he can't fathom the tragic death of his grandmother and two young cousins. He says Brown was working in the Conservation Corps and to support himself.

"How could someone do to this to anyone?" Garland said.

According to the church's website, Lucas and her husband John Lucas are heavily involved with the Sacramento community and worldwide. They help feed Muslim children in the Philippines and Nigeria, and are helping to build a church in the Virgin Islands.
