Families Homeless After Fire At North Sacramento Apartment Complex

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Authorities say six families are homeless after a fire at a North Sacramento apartment complex Monday evening.

Crews were called to the 2600 block of Fairfield Street apartment just after 7 p.m.

Once at the scene, heavy smoke and flames were spotted coming from a downstairs unit, prompting a call for a second alarm.

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control, but not before the damage was done. Photos from the scene take by the Sacramento Fire Department show damage to both downstairs and upstairs units.

No one was hurt in the fire, but a person of interest has been detained for questioning.

Sacramento Fire says six families have been displaced by the fire. The Red Cross has been called to help the families.
