One Dead After Shooting At Fairfield Gas Station; Man, 22, Arrested

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Authorities say one person is dead after a shooting at a gas station in Fairfield late Sunday night.

The scene was at the ampm on the corner of Alaska Avenue and N. Texas Street.

A clerk says he went on his lunch break a little before midnight when he heard what sounded like a brick being thrown through a window. It was actually shots being fired. The clerk then ran back into the store and called 911.

Officers say they found two gunshot victims at the scene. One man, a 30-year-old Fairfield resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Later, Fairfield police say they alerted that another person hurt in the shooting had walked into a nearby emergency room. That man, 22-year-old Fairfield resident Souljah Corbin, is believed to a be suspect in the original incident.

After he was treated for non-life threatening wounds, Corbin was arrested and is now facing charges of murder and attempted murder.

Investigators are still looking for a motive for the shooting, but it's not believed to be random.
