Facebook Works With Germany To Block Anti-Immigrant Content

BERLIN (CBS Sacramento) -  As Germany deals with an influx of refugees from war-torn Syria, the country is looking to social media to help ease the transition.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Facebook is working with the German government to block hate speech and remove offensive material from the site.

The move is in response to Germany's justice minister, who wrote to the social network: "Facebook users are, in particular, complaining increasingly that your company is not effectively stopping racist 'posts' and comments despite their pointing out concrete examples."

But the WSJ notes that Facebook is not changing its overall policy of what content is considered offensive.

Germany and other European nations are seeing a huge influx of refugees from Syria and Afghanistan. The arrival of so many immigrants has sparked protests across the continent.
