Escalon Teen Arrested For Allegedly Making 'Killer Clown' Threats To Kill Students

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (CBS13) - In Escalon, a 16-year old was arrested for allegedly making threats online to kill students at Escalon High School.

Police say the threats, which were made on Instagram, were also linked to the "Killer Clown" craze.

Police didn't say who made the threats but say they tracked them down to Vista Continuation High School.

"This person had something to do with clowns, and indicated that this individual or individuals were going to be at the high school that day to 'kill some of the dumb students,'" said a police spokesperson.

The teen was book into the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall for making terrorist threats and causing a false emergency to be reported.

In Manteca, a student was cited and suspended for a clown hoax at Nile Garden Elementary School. Deputies say the student doctored a photo and falsely claimed someone dressed as a clown was near the school's fence.
