Erik Roner, Extreme Sports Star, Dies In Lake Tahoe Skydiving Accident

LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) — A Northern California extreme sports star and reality TV show host died in a skydiving accident at Lake Tahoe on Monday.

Erik Roner was performing a stunt with a group of skydivers at a Squaw Valley golf event when he hit a tree.

Roner was known around the world as an extreme sports athlete, and a big name in the Lake Tahoe community where he perfected his sport.

Investigators say he was part of a group conducting a skydiving performance when Roner hit a tree and became entangled. He died at the scene.

He was known for his talents in the air and on the mountain, as a professional BASE jumper and skier. His talents were featured on the MTV show "Nitro Circus" and he hosted at TV show called "Locals" on Outside Network.

He's remembered as a pioneer in action sports and a man who inspired others to challenge their own abilities.

The other skydivers in Roner's group all landed safely.

The golf tournament was canceled after the accident.
