Elk Grove Will Honor Veterans, First Responders By Naming Streets After Them

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — Elk Grove will honor military veterans and first responders by naming streets after them.

"It's a small thing that we could do to really honor them," said Mayor Gary Davis.

The street-naming program will honor people who have served community or country in the military, law enforcement or firefighting.

The sign will bear the name of the honoree, along with the American flag and how they served.

The person must be a former Elk Grove resident who is deceased with verifiable documentation and a brief biography.

"I think it's a big thing as far as raising awareness as to exactly what our veterans and public safety officials are doing to serve this country," he said.

Most of the street names will appear in new neighborhoods under construction.
