Sacramento Mom Pleads For Help Finding Teen Son's Killer

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A mother is looking for the person who killed her son in the family's Sacramento driveway early Thursday morning.

Lugenia Whiteside is hoping for any information that could solve the mystery of who killed her 17-year-old son Deonte Whiteside.

"My son was a great kid always smiling, very respectful," she said.

He was killed early Thursday morning after gunshots rang out in the family's front yard. Police arrived on the 4900 block of Harrow Drive in Sacramento.

Whiteside says her son wasn't involved in gangs and was a well-liked teenager.

"He went to Laguna Creek High School, he was set to graduate, a very good kid all as counselors and teachers have been calling, it's just really sad," she said.

She's hoping anyone who may have information comes forward, and she's also holding on to hope that security cameras throughout her neighborhood could help investigators find who is responsible.
