Armed Man Barricaded In Elk Grove Home Arrested, House Burns

10 p.m. UPDATE: ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A suspect is in custody after the a tense firefight ended in a fiery finale.

Police were responding to a domestic incident when they say a suspect exchanged gunfire with police. SWAT officers were called out to the scene.

The suspects' relatives were able to leave the home unharmed.

Police are not naming the suspect. He is being treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation and for injuries related to the deployment of a K-9.

Smoke was seen at the house just before 8 p.m. on Friday and within the hour, flames erupted from the house.

Neighbors cell phone video shows massive flames shooting through the roof of the Elk Grove home.

Police were in a standoff with a barricaded armed suspect, who had allegedly been lighting items inside the home on fire before jumping out a window, allowing police to make the arrest.

A shelter in place order went into effect with neighbors. A perimeter went up preventing those outside the neighborhood from returning to their homes.

8:45 p.m. UPDATE: The suspect is in custody, and the home he was inside has gone up in flames.

Police say the suspect jumped out of a window and was taken into custody.

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A man has barricaded himself inside a home in Elk Grove after firing shots at officers.

Elk Grove Police say the man is in a home on Trafton Court. The incident started as a family disturbance.

Smoke has been seen coming from the house.

The man fired several shots in the direction, but no officers were hit.
