Elk Grove Boy, 14, Robbed At Gunpoint On Way Home From School

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - Police say a middle school student was robbed at gunpoint by three other teens as he was walking home.

The incident happened Wednesday just before 3:30 p.m. near Lotus Pond Way and Mclean Drive. Elk Grove Police say the 14-year-old boy was walking home from Toby Johnson Middle School when the three older teens confronted him.

At some point during the confrontation, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boy. The boy then gave up his stuff.

It is unclear what was taken.

Police say a witness confronted teens as they were walking away, but the suspect flashed his gun and the witness backed off.

The teens were last seen running east on Mclean Drive.

In a letter sent to parents alerting them of the incident, Toby Johnson Middle school Principal Patrick McDougall says there will be more police patrolling the neighborhoods around the school for the next few days.

The student was not hurt in the incident, McDougall wrote.
