Police Investigating After Body Found In Greenbelt Off Bond Road In Elk Grove
ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in Elk Grove on Thursday.
The body was found in the greenbelt area on Bond Road, just west of Elk Grove-Florin Road.
Officers responded to the scene to do a welfare check and found the person lying under a pile of sleeping bags, Elk Grove police say. The person was soon pronounced dead.
Police determined the deceased person was homeless and say there are no signs of foul play and the death is not being considered suspicious.

No other information about the person, nor how they may have died, has been released at this point. The person's identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
State Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) released a statement about the death Thursday evening.
"Today is a sad day for the City of Elk Grove and the people of the 9th Assembly District," Cooper said. "My deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with the unidentified individual's friends and family who lost his life today in Elk Grove. I pledge to continue fighting for those who suffer from homelessness in our region. As the Capitol of the great State of California, we must do better."
