Elephant Seal Found Wandering Between Rio Vista And Suisun City
RIO VISTA (CBS13) – An elephant seal is recovering at the Marine Mammal Center after being found near Highway 12.
According to the Solano County Sheriff's Office, someone spotted the seal wandering the area between Rio Vista and Suisun City. Deputies showed up and found a very weak Northern elephant seal.
However, the seal had just enough energy to make its way into a trailer and into the custody of Solano County Animal Control.
Deputies have since named the seal "Chief Solano." She has been taken to the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito where Chief Solano will be looked at and treated.
