Electrical Fire At Citrus Heights Apartment Injures Child, 2 Adults

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A child was among the people injured by a Citrus Heights apartment fire early Friday morning.

Fire crews arrived just after 12:30 a.m. to find flames showing from a second-story apartment on Greenback Lane near Mariposa Lane.

Crews searched the building after someone told them there were people trapped inside. A child was rescued from inside while two people were rescued from the balcony of a nearby apartment.

Another child and two adults who escaped the fire before crews arrived were taken to the hospital with significant injures.

Two Citrus Heights Police officers suffered minor injuries at the scene, but were treated and released.

The cause of the fire has been deemed accidental and electrical.
