Elderly Woman Hit, Killed Along Sunrise Boulevard

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – An elderly woman was killed after she was hit by a car along Sunrise Boulevard Tuesday night.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, the incident happened along Sunrise at Monier Circle. Rancho Cordova Police officers who responded to the scene found that a woman had been hit by a car.

The woman – identified as 80-year-old Cumberland, Canada resident Therese Ozorak – was soon pronounced dead at the scene my medics, police say.

Investigators believe that the woman was hit by a car heading north on Sunrise. The car had the green light, but the woman was in the roadway.

The driver tried to stop, but was not able to before hitting the woman, investigators say.

Investigators say that speed or weather do not look to have played a role in the incident.
