El Dorado County Senior Shot Inside Home Dies Of Injuries

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) - A 91-year-old victim of a home invasion has now died, turning the crime into a homicide investigation.

Gerald Holderman of Diamond Springs died Saturday after he never fully recovered from injuries he suffered in a 2014 attack inside of his home, according to his daughter.

Holderman was shot. His wife, 80-year-old Faye Holderman, was severely beaten.

Authorities say Faye called the 911 center at 8:43 a.m. on December 31 in distress, claiming she and her husband were injured, had been held hostage and could not get up, according to a statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found the couple had suffered serious injuries. They couple was treated by paramedics and transported to Marshall Hospital. The couple's grandchildren told CBS13 the victims had been shot, stabbed, beaten and locked in a bathroom, but say nothing was stolen from the home.

An El Dorado County sheriff's spokesman said no arrests have been made in the case so far.
