El Dorado County Schools Placed On Lockdown After Bomb Threat

PLACERVILLE (CBS13) - Several schools in El Dorado County were placed on lockdown today after someone threatened to blow up Folsom Lake College.

At around 1:05 p.m., the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office received a call from a suspicious person on the El Dorado Center – Folsom Lake College campus in Placerville claiming to have a gun and threatening to blow up the college, according to a written statement from the office.

Officers from several law enforcement agencies immediately went to the area of the school to search for the caller, and schools nearby were placed on a lockdown.

About 15 minutes later, a deputy located someone who fit the description of the caller. An hour later, another person was detained by deputies. It appears neither of the two was considered suspects.

Deputies reportedly made a thorough search of the area, including the schools that were on lockdown. The schools placed on lockdown were the County Office of Education, Charter School, and the El Dorado Center of Folsom Lake College.

The lockdown was lifted at 2:40 p.m.
