Drunk Driving Suspect Killed By LA County Deputies

PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have shot and killed a drunken driving suspect who fought them after his car hit a Palmdale Taco Bell.

Authorities say Taco Bell employees called them around 3 a.m. Sunday to report that a car had hit the business near the drive-thru and the driver appeared unconscious.

The Sheriff's Department says deputies put the man in a patrol car but when they went to arrest and handcuff him, he jumped out and began scuffling with a deputy.

Other deputies joined in and the fight ended up on the ground.

Authorities say the man was shot when he grabbed hold of a deputy's gun and refused to let go.

Authorities found a pistol and a bag of marijuana in his car.
