AUBURN — Crews rescued a driver who crashed down into a 40-foot ditch along an Auburn highway, authorities said Monday afternoon.

California Highway Patrol's Auburn division said the driver suffered a medical emergency, which led to him crashing off the side of Highway 49 into an embankment near Marguerite Mine Road.
