Driver Killed In Highway 12 Crash Was Facing Charges

RIO VISTA, Calif. (AP) -- The Northern California woman driving a car that crashed and killed five people last weekend was facing felony drunken driving charges and cruelty to a child stemming from a previous incident.

The Modesto Bee reports Tuesday that 21-year-old Annalicia Mona Montoya, and four others were killed and four more were injured in Saturday's crash on Highway 12 near Rio Vista.

The others who died were her 3-year-old daughter Adelayanna Ortiz; 17-year-old Aaliyah Buenrostro; 19-year-old Denise Garcia; and 2-year-old Ramiro Garcia. All lived in Modesto.

The previous charges stemmed from a Sept. 12 collision, the newspaper reported.

The four other occupants in the other vehicle in Saturday's crash were all taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The California Highway Patrol did not indicate whether alcohol or drugs were involved in weekend crash.
