Bear Hit By Vehicle In Tracy

TRACY (CBS13) - A driver reportedly hit a bear with their vehicle in Tracy on Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight Wednesday, the driver hit the bear while in the area of Vallerand Road and Tracy Boulevard, the driver told Tracy police. No description of bear was given.

Officers did not find blood at the scene.

A bear was spotted Monday night at around 8:45 p.m. near Lowell Avenue and Orchard Parkway. A second sighting happened during the early hours of Tuesday morning in the Grantline and Corral Hollow roads.

Police are working with the Department of Fish And Wildlife to safely capture the bear or bears. Meantime, they will continue patrolling the area near schools at dismissal time. They urge anyone who sees a bear in Tracy to contact them and not to go near the animal.
