Dogs Displaced By Wildfires Shipped To Other States As Shelters Crowd

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Humane Society says it has welcomed nearly 80 dogs from California shelters displaced by wildfires.

The dogs are among the many pets that have been lost or relinquished in the wildfires that have destroyed nearly 100 homes in California.

Idaho Humane Society spokeswoman Allison Maier says the fires have flooded California's already crowded shelters.

Maier added that there is a high demand for puppies and small-breed dogs in Boise. She says the some of the California transfers are already up for adoption and the rest will likely be adopted soon.
