New Wildfire In Calaveras County Near Copperopolis; 20 Acres Burned So Far

CALAVERAS COUNTY (CBS13) — Firefighters are battling a new fire burning in Calaveras County near the community of Copperopolis early Tuesday afternoon.

Cal Fire's Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit says the fire - which has been named the Diamond Fire - is burning near Highway 4 and Main Street.

So far, the fire has grown to 23 acres. Additional resources are being called to the scene, Cal Fire says.

By 4:15 p.m., Cal Fire said a hoselay had been established around the perimeter of the fire.

No evacuations have been ordered at this point.
