Detectives: Marysville Man Shot, Killed In Front Of 8-Year-Old Son

MARYSVILLE (CBS13) - Detectives say a Marysville man was shot and killed in front of his young son Wednesday night.

The shooting happened along the 400 block of Willow Street. Marysville police say they got a call just before 9 p.m. that a man had been shot in the area.

First responders found a man with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. He was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

The man has been identified as 43-year-old Taj Fields. Detectives say Field's 8-year-old son was just feet in front of him when he was shot. The boy was not hurt.

Detectives were able to identify a suspect and linked him to a stolen car. The suspect, a Yuba City resident, was believed to be on his way to Fresno.

Thursday morning, Fresno authorities managed to find and pull over the stolen car with the suspect inside and arrested him without incident. He has been identified as 28-year-old Roman Zarate. A handgun was found near Zarate, authorities say.

Zarate is facing charges of murder and possession of a stolen vehicle.
