Detective Michael Davis Honored At Memorial Service

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (CBS13/AP) - Law enforcement officials from across the state attended a memorial service to honor the second deputy killed in a bloody Northern California chase that left a third deputy wounded.

Placer County sheriff's Detective Michael David Davis Jr. was killed during a six-hour shooting rampage through Sacramento and Placer Counties on Oct. 24.

The killing spree began when Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver was shot to death by a man arguing with his wife inside a car in a motel parking lot.

Authorities say the man later shot two Placer County deputies, killing Davis and wounding his partner. A man who resisted surrendering his keys during a carjacking was also wounded.

Thousands of law enforcement officials in uniform on Monday remembered Oliver as a leader who cared for his community.
