Deputy Hurt In Orangevale While Taking Man Into Custody

ORANGEVALE (CBS13) - A deputy suffered a major injury while arresting a man in Orangevale, the sheriff's department says.

The incident happened early Monday afternoon along the 6400 block of Benning Street.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a report of someone being threatened. While investigating the scene, deputies came across a dog tied up outside of an apartment.

Deputies couldn't find the dog's owner, but a young soon approached the deputies and said it was a neighborhood dog.

The man would not identify himself, deputies say, and he reportedly got aggressive. Deputies then moved to detain him, but the man fought back.

One deputy suffered a major injury to his ankle in the struggle, the department says. The deputy was transported to the hospital.

The man, later identified as 22-year-old Tristan Alexander, was evenutally taken into custody. He was booked at Sacramento County Jail and is facing charges of resisting arrest.
